EHR means better healthcare!
Healthcare providers that can prove “Meaningful Use” of EHRs will receive financial incentives from the government. In order to get the most out of the incentive program you would need to show meaningfule use of EHR starting in 2011.
We understand that providers are looking for ways to improve delivery of healthcare to their patients. An Electronic Health Record can improve the care you provide to your patients.
How? You may ask. Well let me list just a few…
• Secured access to patient information from just about any location at anytime where network internet access is available, without the worry of lost or unobtainable charts. More than one person can access a patient’s chart at a time. This can’t be done with paper charts.
• Reduction in errors. This is a big one! Most EHRs have drug-to-drug alerts, drug-to-allergy alerts and other alerts. Not to mention that illegible charting and prescription writing becomes a thing of the past. You can electronically send prescriptions directly to your patient’s pharmacy through your computer. Their medication will be waiting for them when they arrive.
• Preventive Maintenance. You can have readily obtainable reports available, listing which patients should have certain test or procedures based on their health risk or diagnosis? Better yet…have an alert pop up on your screen alerting you when a patient is due for a procedure, such as a mammogram. You will be able to chart statistics and perform trends analysis. EHRs help providers in clinical decision making.
There are many benefits to having an EHR and we can help you implement one in your practice so that your patients can reap the benefits of improved patient care and safety.
